I’m a passionate multimedia storyteller with more than 15 years of experience working as a creative director, graphic designer, writer & editor and filmmaker. Throughout my career I’ve been fortunate to have developed a broad creative toolkit and am well versed in the Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop), video editing software (Final Cut Pro, Premiere, Adobe After Effects), writing and designing multimedia content for both the web and print, and brand strategy. EXPERIENCE
DIRECTOR OF MARKETING & COMMUNICATIONS, UNIVERSITY OF WASHINGTON, SEATTLE (2020-PRESENT)
I conceive and create marketing and communications content for the Health Sciences division. This includes a bi-annual magazine (both print and digital), monthly electronic emails, web content, video production work and animated infographic content, speeches and presentations, social media marketing and brand strategy.
CREATIVE DIRECTOR, AARP, NEW YORK CITY (2016-2020)
I conceived, strategize and develop a wide variety of B2B and B2C multimedia content and collateral. From presentations, brochures and advertisements, to digital banners, video production work, photography and infographics, my role entails both hands-on design and production and managing two senior graphic designers.
CREATIVE MANAGER, HEARST BUSINESS MEDIA, NEW YORK CITY (2015-2016)
I operated as the primary graphic designer and multimedia content creator, working closely with members of the Hearst Business Media and Hearst Health Marketing teams to develop concepts and create compelling presentations, branding materials, web design, photography and video content to support division-wide marketing and communications efforts.
COMMUNICATIONS ADMINISTRATOR, CITY OF REDMOND, REDMOND, WA (2013-2014)
I helped strategize marketing campaigns and designed multimedia communications projects. I developed and designed the identity and brand for the city’s environmental education initiative, Naturally Redmond. This involved the creation of a logo, brand book, microsite, suite of promotional materials and educational video series.
DIRECTOR OF NEW MEDIA, UNIVERSITY OF NORTH CAROLINA, CHAPEL HILL, NC (2012-2013)
I wrote and designed multimedia content for the university, from press releases, articles and scripts for the university system president, to video interviews and animated infographics. My role also included directing the development of a new website and supporting marketing materials that served the 16-campus system.
COMMUNICATIONS SPECIALIST, NORTH CAROLINA STATE UNIVERSITY; RALEIGH, NC (2008 - 12)
I wrote, edited, designed and shot photography for all department publications and marketing materials. I also conceived and designed our annual marketing plan, wrote video scripts, shot and produced video shorts, developed content for the department website, created and coordinated advertising campaigns and supervised an assistant marketing specialist.
EDITOR, EAST KENTUCKY POWER COOPERATIVE; WINCHESTER, KY(2003 - 08)
I wrote, edited and helped design company publications and marketing materials, and I managed a stable of freelance writers. I also produced weekly and monthly newsletters, press releases, a quarterly magazine and content for the company website.
ASSISTANT EDITOR, COURIER MAGAZINE, NATIONAL TOUR ASSOCIATION; LEXINGTON, KY (1998 - 2003)
I researched, wrote and edited feature and business articles on the travel industry. Other job responsibilities included interviewing subjects for stories, coordinating photography for each issue, designing the cover from month to month and shooting photographs when needed.
INTERIM DIRECTOR, WRITING AND COMMUNICATIONS CENTER, EAST TENNESSEE STATE UNIVERSITY; JOHNSON CITY, TN (1997 - 98)
Supervised undergraduate and graduate tutors, designed workshops for students and faculty, conducted a peer tutoring presentation at the Writing Across the Curriculum Conference in Morristown, TN, entitled No Experts Here: Training Peer Tutors for a Comprehensive University Writing and Communication Center.
FEATURES WRITER AND PHOTOGRAPHER, HERALD & TRIBUNE NEWSPAPER; JONESBOROUGH, TN (1995 - 96)
Interviewed a variety of story subjects, from local politicians to award-winning storytellers. Created layouts for all articles. Wrote feature stories and covered all government meetings. Took photographs for each issue and processed the film.
